A quick tip heard today at the daylily
gardens and nursery that my garden club toured -
DO NOT mulch daylilies with cypress. It stunts their growth and restricts blooming!

Central Florida brush fires - not to worry!
05/04/2006
Just in case the news media in your
area has been reporting on the brush fires in Central
Florida.........
Wanted to let you know that your homes (and our area) are just fine - not threatened at all. Most of the fires are miles and miles away in Brevard, Lee and Volusia counties. There have been numerous accidents and closings of I - 95 and I - 4 due to the smoke causing blackout conditions. On Monday and Tuesday, a fire burned about 1000 acres near the Tavares Middle School (County Roads 448 & 561). We could see the smoke from Hwy 441. May still be smoldering. If you'd like more information, click on the link for the Orlando Sentinel (on the bottom of the "Weather/Links" page) and type in "brush fires" in the search box at the top. The article on the Tavares fire was in the Lake section of the Sentinel on Tuesday, May 2nd.
We continue to monitor your lawns and will start or resume extra watering, if necessary. If you have any concerns or questions, please call or email us right away!
THANKS FOR THE RECOMMENDATIONS!
